Brussels sprouts are a Summer smash
Brussels sprouts are a divisive feature of Christmas dinners, causing squabbles around tables up and down the country, but the little vegetable is proving surprisingly popular during the heatwave.
Asda revealed that it is currently selling 1.6 million of the small spherical vegetables each week - enough to fill 42 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
Trimmed sprouts are the supermarket's best selling line of prepared vegetables, beating competition from chopped carrots, baby sweetcorn and mange-tout, with more than 70,000 packs being bought by Asda shoppers each week.
